Jeremy McNichols
Jeremy McNichols Re-ups on one-year deal
Mon, Mar 16, 2026, 9:59 AM
The Commanders re-signed McNichols to a one-year deal on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: McNichols played a key role on special teams while also handling a change-of-pace role for Washington last season, rushing 44 times for 221 yards and a score in addition to securing 25 of 31 targets for 196 yards across 17 regular-season appearances. He projects more realistically for a pure depth role in 2026, however, after the Commanders brought in a pair of capable pass catches in the form of Rachaad White and Jerome Ford (shoulder) to contribute alongside returning ballcarrier Jacory Croskey-Merritt.
Jerome Ford
Jerome Ford Heading to Washington
Sat, Mar 14, 2026, 9:12 AM
Ford (shoulder) and the Commanders agreed to terms on a one-year contract Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Ford will call Washington his new home after spending the first four years of his NFL career in Cleveland. His most productive year with the Browns was in 2023, when he produced 1,132 yards from scrimmage and nine touchdowns across 17 regular-season games, though he served in a rotational role over the last two years. Ford will now join a Commanders backfield that also consists of Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Rachaad White.
Van Jefferson
Van Jefferson Joining Commanders
Fri, Mar 13, 2026, 2:58 PM
Jefferson (forearm) is signing with the Commanders, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Jefferson finished the 2025 regular season with the Titans on injured reserve due to a forearm injury, but he looks to have recovered. Prior to that injury, the six-year NFL veteran recorded 350 receiving yards in 16 games. Jefferson had 802 regular-season receiving yards back in 2021 with the Rams but hasn't topped 369 in any of his other five campaigns, which suggests he's likely ticketed for a depth role in Washington.
Dyami Brown
Dyami Brown Links back up with Commanders
Fri, Mar 13, 2026, 2:55 PM
Brown is signing a one-year contract with the Commanders, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports Friday.
Analysis: Brown spent his first four seasons in Washington, recording 59 catches for 784 yards and four touchdowns across 63 regular-season games. After posting a 227-yard regular season with the Jaguars in 2025, Brown will rejoin the Commanders, who have a wide open depth chart at wide receiver behind Terry McLaurin.
Rachaad White
Rachaad White Links up with Commanders
Thu, Mar 12, 2026, 2:12 PM
White agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Washington on Thursday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: White is moving on from Tampa Bay after four seasons and now joins Jacory Croskey-Merritt atop Washington's wide open backfield. A versatile pass-catching specialist also capable of contributing between the tackles, White's style of play makes it easy to project him as a productive complement alongside Croskey-Merritt, a 2025 seventh-round pick who compiled 805 rushing yards and eight scores across 175 carries (4.6 YPC) and 17 regular-season appearances as a rookie. The Commanders will remain a candidate to add to the backfield in free agency and/or April's draft, but White has found a landing spot that could provide a boost for his fantasy prospects, especially in PPR formats, for the 2026 season.
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott Difficult path to targets again
Thu, Mar 12, 2026, 1:07 PM
Sinnott has a chance to earn a larger role in 2026, but free-agent signing Chig Okonkwo figures to replace Zach Ertz (knee) as Washington's top pass-catching tight end, according to Bryan Manning of Commanders Wire.
Analysis: With Kliff Kingsbury calling plays the past two seasons, Sinnott drew just 18 targets in 33 regular-season games (652 snaps). New offensive coordinator David Blough may have a somewhat larger role in mind, but the recent Okonkwo signing (three years, $30 million) hints at Sinnott and John Bates mostly blocking again. Bates is a better blocker, and he signed an extension last March, putting Sinnott at risk of a third straight season as merely the No. 3 TE in Washington. Sinnott may even enter training camp on the roster bubble, albeit with age (24 in June), draft capital (53rd overall in 2024) and athleticism (4.68 40) working in his favor.
Chig Okonkwo
Chig Okonkwo Set to join Commanders
Wed, Mar 11, 2026, 2:12 PM
Okonkwo has agreed to terms on a three-year contract with Washington, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Okonkwo is moving on from Tennessee after four seasons to become the new top pass-catching TE for quarterback Jayden Daniels, joining a positional room that also includes Ben Sinnott and John Bates (who combined for 22 catches in 2025). Now entering his age-27 season, Okonkwo has tallied over 400 receiving yards in four consecutive years and brings a respectable production floor to the Commanders. For fantasy purposes, Okonkwo will be a sleeper breakout candidate at the tight end position, in the event that Daniels is the quarterback able to unlock the untapped potential promised by his YAC abilities and speed (4.52 40).
Marcus Mariota
Marcus Mariota Staying in Washington
Mon, Mar 9, 2026, 2:50 PM
Mariota is re-signing with the Commanders, Ben Standig of Big 100 Washington D.C. reports.
Analysis: The 33-year-old QB is signing a one-year contract with Washington for the third consecutive offseason. He was one of the league's better backup quarterbacks the past couple of years, and there should be a degree of continuity with internal promotion David Blough replacing Kliff Kingsbury as the offensive coordinator.
Treylon Burks
Treylon Burks Back to Washington on one-year deal
Fri, Mar 6, 2026, 2:28 PM
The Commanders re-signed Burks to a one-year contract worth up to $4 million Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: After some injury-plagued seasons in Tennessee, Burks signed with Washington back in October and appeared in eight regular-season games for the Commanders last season. He reeled in 10 of 22 targets for 130 yards and one touchdown on 60 percent of the offensive snaps across the second half of the season. The Commanders' wide-receiver depth chart is wide open behind Terry McLaurin, as Deebo Samuel is ticketed for free agency next week.
Zach Ertz
Zach Ertz Plans to play, targeting Week 1
Tue, Feb 24, 2026, 8:59 AM
Ertz (knee) intends to play in the 2026 season and is expected to be cleared close to Week 1, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Ertz suffered a torn ACL in a Week 14 loss to the Vikings on Dec. 7, making it conceivable that he could be healthy for Week 1 of the 2026 season, which will be roughly nine months after his injury. It seems just as plausible, however, that the 35-year-old veteran's rehab could require him to start the 2026 campaign on the PUP list. An impending free agent, Ertz will need to find a new opportunity in the league in addition to managing his return to full health. Across 13 regular-season appearances with the Commanders in 2025, he secured 50 of 72 targets for 504 yards and four scores. Washington general manager Adam Peters said Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine that the team will "keep the door open for sure" regarding re-signing Ertz, but noted that "you can't count on anything," per John Keim of ESPN.com.
Terry McLaurin
Terry McLaurin Headed for more volume in 2026?
Fri, Feb 13, 2026, 12:10 PM
New Commanders offensive coordinator David Blough wants McLaurin to get "10 targets a game," according to UWSA9's John Doran.
Analysis: "This thing's going to be built around how do we get [McLaurin] 10 targets a game," said Blough. "And get [McLaurin] explosive receptions after explosive receptions to kind of flip the field." It sounds promising from a fantasy standpoint, but McLaurin has reached eight targets per game just once in his seven NFL seasons (8.9 in 2020). He finished 2025 with career lows for games played (10), targets per game (6.0) and yards per game (58.2), among other statistics, though he also averaged 9.7 YPT and had a career-high 61.7 percent success rate on targets. There's a strong enough bounce-back argument for 2026, even if the volume mentioned by Blough is unrealistic.
Colson Yankoff
Colson Yankoff Increased work in second season
Thu, Feb 12, 2026, 1:37 PM
Yankoff caught two of three targets for 18 yards across 14 games in 2025.
Analysis: The UCLA product logged just 107 total snaps (101 on special teams and six on offense) across six regular-season games during his rookie campaign in 2024. However, he played a much larger role in his second season, logging 246 special-teams snaps and 107 offensive snaps. Despite the increased playing time, Yankoff was targeted just three times and operated in a depth role within Washington's tight end room. Under contract through 2026, the 25-year-old is expected to compete for a larger offensive role this offseason.
Chris Moore
Chris Moore Makes 11 catches in 2025
Mon, Jan 12, 2026, 12:37 PM
Moore caught 11 of 23 targets for 207 yards and one touchdown while adding a nine-yard carry across 14 appearances during the 2025 regular season.
Analysis: Moore began the season on the practice squad but spent most of the season on the Commanders' active roster and saw a surprisingly high amount of usage due to the team's injuries at wide receiver. That usage didn't amount to much production, though. He'll be a free agent ahead of his age-33 season and will likely have to compete for a roster spot somewhere in training camp.
Jeremy McNichols
Jeremy McNichols Career year in 2025
Fri, Jan 9, 2026, 1:17 PM
McNichols rushed 44 times for 221 yards and a touchdown while catching 25 of 31 targets for 196 yards across 17 regular-season games in 2025.
Analysis: With Austin Ekeler (Achilles) sustaining a season-ending injury early into the Commanders' 2025 campaign, McNichols was thrust into the role of the team's primary pass-catching running back. The Boise State product performed well, recording a career-high 417 total yards while averaging 6.0 yards per touch. Set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, McNichols could draw interest from teams seeking a third-down back ahead of the 2026 season.
Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey Sophomore campaign cut short
Fri, Jan 9, 2026, 1:10 PM
McCaffrey (collarbone) caught 11 of 15 targets for 203 yards and three touchdowns across nine regular-season games in 2025. Additionally, he recorded 769 kick return yards.
Analysis: The second-year pro from Rice had a terrific start to the 2025 season, catching eight of 10 targets for 179 yards and three touchdowns across the Commanders' first six games. McCaffrey also proved to be one of the best return specialists in the NFL, averaging a whopping 29.6 yards per kick return. He's expected to return from a broken collarbone by the start of the 2026 season and will likely play another depth role in Washington's receiving corps.
Jacoby Jones
Jacoby Jones Inks future deal with Washington
Mon, Jan 5, 2026, 7:16 PM
The Commanders signed Jones to a future/reserve contract Monday.
Analysis: Jones spent the entire 2025 campaign with Washington, appearing one contest in Week 11 against the Dolphins, reeling in his only target for 25 yards over 11 offensive snaps. The wide receiver will now look to compete for a reserve role behind Terry McLaurin on the active roster in 2026.
Ja'Corey Brooks
Ja'Corey Brooks Sticking around Washington
Mon, Jan 5, 2026, 7:11 PM
The Commanders signed Brooks (undisclosed) to a reserve/future contract Monday.
Analysis: Brooks will stick around Washington after spending the 2025 campaign as a member of the practice squad, appearing in the team's Week 6 loss to the Bears, failing to record any stats over seven offensive snaps. The wide receiver also ended the year on the team's practice squad injured list with an undisclosed injury, but he now appears to be healthy ahead of the offseason. With the new deal, Brooks will get the chance to train with the Commanders during the team's offseason activities prior to the 2026 season.
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott Held to three yards in Week 18
Mon, Jan 5, 2026, 2:00 PM
Sinnott caught both of his targets for three yards in Sunday's 24-17 win over Philadelphia.
Analysis: The 2024 second-round pick finishes his second NFL season with a 11-114-1 line on 13 targets. Sinnott played more than 50 percent of offensive snaps in each of the final four games, catching seven of nine targets for 73 yards during that stretch. The Commanders likely are in need of a new starting tight end with Zach Ertz recovering from an ACL tear and scheduled for free agency, but Sinnott hasn't shown much of anything to suggest he can be that player. There's still late-breakout argument, depending on Washington's offseason moves in the coming months.
Treylon Burks
Treylon Burks Ends season with quiet game
Mon, Jan 5, 2026, 1:56 PM
Burks caught two of four targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Eagles.
Analysis: Burks worked as Washington's No. 3 receiver throughout much of the second half of the season, ultimately catching just 10 of 22 targets for 130 yards and a touchdown in eight games. The 2022 first-round pick is scheduled for unrestricted free agency this offseason.
Josh Johnson
Josh Johnson Passable in win
Sun, Jan 4, 2026, 10:54 PM
Johnson completed 14 of 22 passes for 131 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Eagles. He added nine rushes for 45 yards with an additional score and a lost fumble.
Analysis: Johnson drew his second consecutive start in the absence of both Jayden Daniels (elbow) and Marcus Mariota (hand). He effectively managed the offense for most of the game and orchestrated a pair of touchdown drives in the fourth quarter, which he capped off with a two-yard passing score and a one-yard rushing touchdown, to give the Commanders the win. Johnson will become a free agent this offseason, though retirement is also a possibility as he just concluded his 11th season and is set to turn 40 in May.
